– Chris Carter (Jasmine Trias, The Backstreet Boys, J. And those two compressors almost always work. But mixing is about emotion, so I don’t want to get bogged down digging through 80 different compressors – I’ll reach for something that I know will work so I can keep my mental flow going because it’s what’s in my head and my heart that is going to make a record sound like a hit, not how fancy I get with all my plugins. I’ll reach for something else when a signal calls for a more specialized approach (any of the IK compressors and a number of others). Between a solid FET like the Black76 and a solid optical like the Molot, you pretty much have almost everything covered for channel duties and it’s very fast to get a good sound with either without having to get too twiddly with the knobs. The other is VladG’s Molot Compressor in Alpha mode which emulates optical compression and again, works on just about anything. One is the IK Multimedia Black76 which, in my opinion, behaves the most like the real deal and it works on just about anything. For individual tracks I would say the vast majority of the time it’s one of two compressors. So it’s those two in series, each one doing a tiny bit. I follow it with Variety of Sound’s Ferric TDS which, although technically not a compressor, gives me a couple more dB of compression. The Glue is essentially a superb emulation of SSLs famous hardware bus compressor, with a pretty big exception: because its not endorsed, Cytomic has been. At the price point, it offers amazing value for an SSL compressor. My 2buss is always Cytomic’s The Glue, which is an SSL emulation (although I have been messing with the IK Multimedia Buss Compressor recently). With this tool, you gain access to a modeled version of an SSL G‑series compressor. The Glue is truly remarkable on drums, able to tighten guitars and on the mix bus. THE GLUE is an excellent compressor that infuses the right amount of harmonics distortion and glues everything together on the master bus. Cytomic – The Glue Oversampling Rating: Five out of five stars

I would suggest that you when you do the final print of the score that you turn this up and leave it on average while you mix a session. I also got torn to pieces on r/edmproduction. It’s best used on instrument busses, like drums, electric guitars, or (my favorite) background vocals. My only suggestion would be to test more scenarios, such as: EQ-8 with high quality mode OFF. That console’s bus compressor (nicknamed The Glue) has become legendary for sonically gluing tracks together. There is no limit to what can be achieved making use of its mkI, mkII, and mkIII modules. The plugin supports different level of audio quality, you can increase the overall quality and improve the high frequencies by dialing in Oversampling. Cytomic’s The Glue is modelled after the now-famous SSL-4000 bus compressor. Taking the first position on gearslutz’s top 10 compressors list, this plugin has proven the saying expensive doesn’t mean better.

It is a console and hardware inspired interface, easy to use and responsive. When possible I increased the oversampling (see below in the UI section) to get even better results. When you add The Glue to the mix you not only glue it together you also add a sparkling tone to the mix. I applied The Glue on various instruments and effects channels, with surpassing benefit to the harmonious outcome. As a result, the attack of the kick drum is slightly improved. The Glue makes drums punchy and sticks out in the mix.

The vibe comes from the added harmonics to the signal that’s processed. Cytomic’s The Glue produce harmonics that shapes and enhance the sound passing through it, and that is the magic you can expect from this kind of compressor plugins. Les quiero mostrar el Cytomic Glue Compressor - un plugin de audio venerado por los mejores productores de audio en la industria musical actual. These units come with that special vibe of analog equipment. The hardware was installed and used in analog desks like the SSL 4000G and the 9000K. The Glue is modeled after the fabulous Solid State Logic G Buss Compressor. The FET Compressor is an impressively faithful modeling of a device loved for its aggressiveness and its tendency to add some tasty distortion to the sound source when driven hard. This plugin The Glue is emulating a vintage hardware compressor.
